All contents of this  document, firmware updates / software updates referred to and works generated are the property of SMW Electronics Pty Ltd.

All information contained in this document and includes this agreement document  is proprietary  and any information generated either as an opinion or review, that is based in part or in full  resulted  from software updates implementation  is not to be released to any 3rd party , online chat or messaging methods  , videos and text based messaging , included in any testimonials or any written or referred information without specific written  permission and approval from SMW Electronics Pty Ltd.  Doing so  will be a breach of the conditions outlined within this software update  agreement and will be subject to  legal action being taken.

All technical information in this document is subject to change, and any software  release which includes any design information may have other features and requirements not outlined within this  document implemented.  

Further, SMW Electronics  gives no warranties or further extends existing warranties or  guaranties by installing  of firmware updates to equipment , including and not limited to the performance outcomes on the equipment  of any software updates being applied to equipment. 

SMW Electronics Pty Ltd offers the majority of  software updates for K9 system  free of charge , but reserves the right to charge for specific releases  and or custom  firmware updates which a user or group has requested .

The software updates Implementation costs, including the labour of implementing , handling ,repacking and notification of assisting shipping of equipment that software updates are applied to and or how SMW Electronics so decides the best method of updates maybe applied is at the discretion of SMW Electronics .

Any software update implementation shall be given  an estimated cost for the work to the user or group in writing within this document prior to the commencement of the software update being done and if the user / group decides to have any other backward or other firmware release , a fee for this service may be applied.

Firmware updates are released “AS IS” with features / fixes and or changes without warranty or commitment to resolve or improve stated outcome of effect on the equipment.

SMW Electronics may allow for firmware updates to be beta released for testing purposes for a period of time determined  by SMW Electronics and ANY person or group so nominated to receive such updates are also under the conditions stated by the terms outlined  on this agreement, and  have  no expectation that a release will be the same as tested, nor will such a release be considered final .

SMW Electronics reserves the right  do updates and release information at time frames at its  discretion and to withhold service or software updates when it believes  the user and or group has infringed upon the terms of this agreement .

The loss of existing configuration and times stored  is expected when a update is applied,  and is the responsibility  of the user or group to set the unit up for use when returned. 

All freight and or  customs/ inspection / storage cost where the equipment may require to be sent and returned to implement a software update  is at the end user cost.      

1.0 The  cost for  Firmware release 0.85 for the K9-GTS system  to person or group stated on this document is NO CHARGE for firmware implantation for  equipment that has been sold directly to end user by SMW Electronics and only  equipment that is within the current 12 month warranty  sale  period from 1st july 2022 – 1st July 2023 . The user will pay for the sending equipment ONLY. The return  Freight cost of equipment is paid by SMW Electronics ( Australia only)   

2.0    The cost of firmware implementation  and handing fee for all others not covered by section 1.0  , then this  user or  group for this update is given the  estimated cost of  $120 aud  and user to pay for the freight to and from the service location after the update is done 

3.0     I as the user or person representing the group who use/own the equipment wishing to have the software update applied ,have read  and understand and agree to the terms and conditions stated within this document

1.0    Ver 0.85 Overview  Notes

Several items were identified for this  release for the K9 controller.

Firmware  updates of v0.85 on controller REQUIRES that

  • Scoreboard firmware be installed to v2.00 to support features used in ver 0.85 on controller
  • Type1 RX Gates should have V0.97 to support features used in ver 0.85 on controller
  • Type 1 TX Gates have V0.97 have new power feature  option when at min optic separation range
  • Type 2 RX gates should have v0.14 a firmware update to support 0.85 on the controller features   

2.0 V0.85 code changes and notes

2.1 New features

  •  Add menus and support option for display of digit2  1/100th or 3 digit 1/1000ths on controller and scoreboards
  • Update  record logging to support 1/1000th 3rd digit  and remove option to not save logging of times – all logging is in 1/1000th regardless of display option set to 2dig(1/100th) 
  • Add option to live time log output of record events times to terminal  
  • Add  option to export CSV records Via APP and allow to transfer to excel template    
  • add individual settle times  value to each gate , from the global value previously
  • add  split-time buzzer to when split-time trigger occurs  
2.2  Updates to existing features
  1. Ver 0.84 bug – Fix error of hour in zero display of laps  
  2. Ver 0.84  -improve  Fix start/stop key when pressed and held down for long time ( greater than 2secs) will act as a stop, or visa versa ,   
  3. Ver 0.84 bug – Fix error zero display for laps event , add flag to control fix  
  4. Ver 0.82-84 – improve receive packet RX full control handling of rx payloads  when multi linked gates send occurs   
  5. Remove non-developed Collar product support code in controller and gates , and scoreboard use – done to reduce code space and services not required
  6. Change controller terminal headers to improve code space use
  7. Update controller for scoreboard code to support 1/100th ,1/1000th display options
  8. Change split-time gates  and page index in log reports
  9. Change RTC time module support code to reduce code space
  10. Update factory date/time settings in code for manufacture release
  11. Fix Penalty add time when in laps event – to update only final time 

3.0    Updates to other firmware for v0.85 support

3.1  – Scoreboard Firmware updated to V2.00

The Scoreboard 6” 96x 16  and 14” 128 x 32 displays requires a firmware update to support the option of 2 digit and 3  digit displays for 0.85 firmware on k9 controller

Code  V2.00 changes…

  1. Add the 1000th support for all display types and allows for space of 1/100th where practical for the display size and information used
  2. Set as default 1000th display
  3. Change banner information to 2023 uses
  4. Change data/time display info from 5mins after display stop to 15mins
  5. Add timing internal code checks for mono displays when showing 1000th 3rd digit
  6. Change RX packet handing when buffer full to suit 0.85 code on controller
  7. Change RX_IOC flow control routine to suit 0.85 code on controller
  8. Remove Collar product code support
  9. Flash production test code changes
3.2  Type1 Gates Firmware V0.96 , V0.97

The Type1 gates requires a firmware update to support better use of the controller 0.85 RF full packet send flow controls, the update also fixes some production tests and sun errors trigger controls algorithm        

 Code 0.96 changes…

  1. Add internal test for auto-trigger for production use
  2. Remove Collar product support code
  3. change RF IOC controls when sending to improve flow control to controller and packet confirmation handling – for the controller using 0.85 code
  4. change flash test check to suit current production
  5. Change RX sensor alignment and trigger algorithm that minimise error signals due to sun effects.

  Code 0.97 changes – Aug 23  – added to URM Ver 0.71

  1. Add new IR MODE2 option for TX gates

     New IR Mode2 is default on ( all IR LED  On)  and is used with IR power normal

     When IR Mode2 = off – this turns IR TX  LED 2,4,6,8 to half power

      Done to ………

  1. Increase battery life of TX gate
  2. can be used when optic distance is 1.5 meter to 3 meters
  3. can provide shorter reflection beam from IR TX pickup area in some        Operational Cases depending on proper alignment considerations,        increasing some sensitivity when optic distance is under 2 meters
  4. Where miss-alignment issues occur, revert to IRMODE2 = on

IR Mode2 selected on/off using defaults switch in the first 5 secs after power up or via terminal option

IR Mode2 = On (all IR LED on)  when High Power mode selected

IR Mode2 = on/off only in Normal Power use

3.3  Type2 Gates Firmware V0.14

The Type2 gates requires a firmware update to support better use of the controller 0.85 RF full packet send flow controls, the update also fixes some production tests and sun errors trigger controls algorithm
